I am an associate professor at TU Delft, since August 2022. Before joining TU Delft in Sep. 2016, I was a HC Ørsted postdoc fellow at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, DTU Denmark. I obtained my PhD in Computer Science in 2015 from TU Munich, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2012 from Beihang University.


My research is focused on computational design and digital fabrication, with an emphasis on topology optimization (which is sometimes referred to as generative design). My work received best paper awards at international conferences including the Symposium on Solid and Physical Modeling 2019, the World Congress of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization 2019, and the inaugural International Congress of Basic Science 2023. I received the 2021 SMA Young Investigator Award, and 2023 ISSMO Haftka Young Investigator Award. In 2023, I was awarded a Vidi grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) to further develop my research on Space-time optimization for additive manufacturing. I'm on the editorial board of Computer-Aided Design and Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization.
